Cancer cells show increased growth rates and resistance to apoptosis. The ability of cancer cells to avoid homeostasis and uncontrolled reproduction while avoiding programmed cell death / apoptosis are obtained through mutations of key signaling molecules that regulate pathways involved in cell proliferation and survival.

Compounds of plant origin, including food components, have attracted scientific attention to use as a means of preventing and treating cancer. The research of natural products provides a great opportunity to evaluate new anti-cancer agents, as well as to understand new and potentially relevant mechanisms of action.

Rosemary extract has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic and anti-cancer properties. The extract of rosemary contains many polyphenols with carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid, which are in the highest concentrations. This overview summarizes existing in vitro and in vivo studies that focus on the anticancer effects of rosemary extract and rosemary extracts of carcinogenic acid and rosmary polyphenol, and their effect on key signaling molecules.
Isaac Cohen, a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, and one of the leading authorities in the field of cancer treatment, said in the book Breast Cancer: In addition to the convention, several Chinese plants show preventive activity for breast cancer. One of that plants is Rosemary.

Rosemary extract and Cancer

Recent studies have shown that rosemary can help prevent damage to skin and cancer. Two key ingredients in rosemary, caffeic acid and rosemary acid are potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents that can help protect the body’s cells from damage by free radicals.

Rich in carnosol, rosemary can detoxify substances that can initiate the breast cancer process, a rich source of vitamin E (alpha tocopherol ), another powerful antioxidant. It is common knowledge that the imbalance of estrogen hormone in women can contribute to breast cancer.

While conventional drugs such as tamoxifen help block the effects of estrogen, they can cause adverse side effects, including hot waves, vaginal bleeding, headaches and nausea.

Rosemary, on the other hand, offers a safe and natural alternative treatment. Researchers believe that rosemary stimulates liver enzymes that inactivate estrogen hormones.

But we must be carefully – because it affects menstrual cycles, pregnant women are advised not to use rosemary. Since rosemary oil is extremely potent, it can never be ingested directly.
